System Stability Verification Guide | Technician‑Grade Performance Checklist

This guide provides a structured process for verifying that an M-Tech system is stable, optimized, and ready for professional realtime work. It is designed for technicians, advanced users, and anyone who wants to confirm that their system is performing at its best.

1. Confirm System is in Best Performance Mode

Before testing stability, ensure the system is using the correct power mode:

  • Open Windows Settings
  • Select System
  • Select Power
  • Choose Best Performance

This ensures consistent CPU scheduling and low latency.

2. Verify GPU Mode

For systems with Intel + NVIDIA graphics:

  • Confirm the system is in NVIDIA-Only Mode for external monitor use
  • Use Hybrid Mode only for battery-focused travel

Incorrect GPU mode is a top cause of display and audio instability.

3. Check Background Processes

Open Task Manager and verify:

  • CPU usage is stable and below 20% at idle
  • Disk usage is below 10% at idle
  • Memory usage is appropriate for installed RAM
  • No unexpected applications are running

Close or disable unnecessary background apps.

4. Verify USB Stability

Check all connected devices:

  • Microphone plugged directly into the laptop
  • No USB hubs used for audio devices
  • No audio devices connected through a dock
  • Cables are secure and high quality

USB instability is a major cause of audio and dictation issues.

5. Confirm Network Stability (Speechmatics)

If using Speechmatics or cloud-based engines:

  • Latency should be below 80 ms
  • No packet loss
  • Upload speed above 5 Mbps
  • Wired Ethernet preferred

Network instability directly affects cloud dictation performance.

6. Check SSD Health and Free Space

Verify the SSD has:

  • At least 20–25% free space
  • No SMART warnings
  • No large audio archives stored on the internal drive

Low free space is a common cause of system slowdowns.

7. Verify Windows Update Status

Check Windows Update:

  • No updates pending restart
  • No updates installing in the background
  • Pause updates during realtime work

Updates can temporarily affect performance.

8. Confirm Audio Device Configuration

Open Windows Sound Settings and verify:

  • The correct microphone is selected
  • Audio enhancements are disabled
  • Input gain is set manually
  • No competing audio devices are active

Incorrect audio configuration is a top cause of accuracy issues.

9. Perform a Realtime Test

Before a critical job:

  • Restart the system
  • Open only the required applications
  • Test dictation for 30–60 seconds
  • Verify stable latency and consistent recognition

This confirms the system is ready for professional use.

10. Summary

A stable system has: Best Performance mode enabled, NVIDIA-Only mode for external monitors, minimal background processes, stable USB connections, a healthy SSD, and clean audio configuration.

Following this checklist ensures your M-Tech system performs at its highest level.
