This checklist provides a fast, technician-grade process for confirming that an M-Tech system is fully optimized for realtime work. Use this list to quickly verify performance, stability, and correct configuration before a customer session or system certification.
1. Power & Performance Settings
- Set Windows to Best Performance
- Disable battery saver
- Confirm no OEM power utilities are overriding settings
2. GPU Configuration
- Set system to NVIDIA-Only Mode when external monitors are used
- Use Hybrid Mode only for battery-focused travel
- Verify external monitors are stable and handshake correctly
3. Background Process Control
- Close all unnecessary applications
- Disable unneeded startup programs
- Pause OneDrive/Dropbox syncing
- Confirm CPU usage is below 20% at idle
- Confirm disk usage is below 10% at idle
4. USB & Audio Stability
- Microphone plugged directly into laptop (no hubs or docks)
- Disable unused audio devices
- Disable audio enhancements
- Set microphone gain manually
- Verify no Bluetooth audio devices are active
5. Network Stability (Speechmatics)
- Latency below 80 ms
- No packet loss
- Upload speed above 5 Mbps
- Prefer wired Ethernet when possible
6. SSD Health & Free Space
- At least 20–25% free space
- No SMART warnings
- No large audio archives stored on the internal SSD
7. Windows Update Status
- No pending restarts
- No updates installing in the background
- Pause updates during realtime work
8. System Restart
- Restart system before certification or realtime sessions
- Verify clean boot with no unexpected startup apps
9. Realtime Test
- Open only required applications
- Test dictation for 30–60 seconds
- Verify stable latency and consistent recognition
10. Pass/Fail Criteria
PASS: Low latency, stable audio, stable displays, low idle CPU/disk usage, no device switching, no system hesitation.
FAIL: Dragon lag, Speechmatics spikes, audio switching, display flicker, high idle CPU/disk usage, or unstable USB behavior.
