This checklist gives you a quick way to confirm that your laptop is set up for the fastest and most stable realtime performance. Each item is based on the same tuning steps we use when preparing a professional reporter system.

Startup and Background Activity

• OneDrive is removed or fully disabled
• Cortana and Copilot are turned off
• Background apps are disabled
• Windows indexing is turned off
• No cloud sync tools running in the background

Power and Performance Settings

• Power mode is set to High-Performance
• All CPU cores are active
• Sleep and hibernation are disabled during work hours
• USB selective suspend is disabled

Storage and Pagefile Settings

• Pagefile is stored on the SSD only
• No pagefile on slower hard drives
• SSD has at least 20 percent free space
• Temporary files are cleared regularly

Realtime Software Readiness

• CAT software is updated to the latest stable version
• Speech engine (Dragon or Speechmatics) is updated and tested
• Audio input is confirmed and working
• Realtime output folder is local, not cloud-based
